Two reports which I dearly hope aren't true.

Two reports I read today on the New Orleans tragedy.

In the first (for which I have no link), it was reported that the United Nations has offered aid to the United States in dealing with the situation and in rebuilding... and were turned down.

In the second, it was reported that, hearing that there was not sufficient water pressure to put out a number of fires burning in New Orleans, the Forest Service offered the use of two fire fighting planes capable of dropping large payloads of water onto a fire, but the planes remain on the ground and the fires continue burning, because the Department of Homeland Security has not authorized their use.

Apparently, we don't need anyone's help as our citizens drown and die and those who remain wonder what remains of their shattered lives.
